Every once in a while, it's nice to be surprised by the unexpected... Bamboo Asia is that unexpected wonderful surprise. Located in the heart of downtown Oakland, parking is absolutely impossible. There are a couple of neighboring parking garages, street parking is practically nonexistent. This is definitely worth the push to try their food. The other challenge is that their hours are limited Monday through Friday from 11 AM to 2 PM . The concept is pretty interesting. Three different types of ethnic cuisines, ( Japanese, Indian, and Vietnamese) all under one roof. You can order from each one of the mini restaurants if you will, and they will prepare your order for dine in or take away. It was difficult to make a decision about what to order, so we ordered a little bit of each one of the cuisines. The lemongrass Banh Mi sandwiches by far were the front runners. The tasty chicken, the veggies... mmmm...mmmm... good!! The Sakura salad is filled with a lovely variety of sushi quality fresh fish. I just wish they would have added a little bit more of the dressing/sauce. The bowl is pretty full and I would've liked a little more flavor. This place is definitely worth the effort, and the price points are very reasonable.

I work in one of the nearby offices and the sun was out so I said "let's go out and grab lunch!" It was awesome to see restaurants open and looks like there are more to come!! It was my first time here and it was a great experience. I was so undecided to be honest but I ended up trying the lemongrass chicken banh mi. It was sooo dang good and filling! The pickled veggies are absolute stand outs! I cannot wait to come back and try other items on the menu. Service was excellent!

The food here was really tasty. I tried their Tokyo rice bowl and it was very filling and well portioned. I'm definitely gonna try out their Vietnamese and Indian menu's next. The interior was nicely decorated and well maintained, and the staff were all quite friendly.

Using the TooGoodToGo app i decided to give Bamboo Asia a try sometime late last year. Using this app is a cool way to try different restaurants in your area, but the catch is that the food is a surprise so what I got was unbeknownst to me until I arrived. The first time I came I got a curry of some sort. The second time I got a beef kind of dish. It was good and there was a large portion given both times. Anyway, there is a lot to choose from had I gone here any other time just to order. The interior is cute with plenty of seating. I imagine this being a popular spot amongst those working in the area.

I loved their downtown San Francisco location and happy they're expanding. The food is always delicious, healthy, and a great variety of Asian cuisine. I get something new every time I go.

Love the ambience here for conversations with friends, so much natural light, good music & vibes. Tried one of their new specials, shaken beef salad. Loved it for that elusive balance of healthy and satisfying.

YES THEY ARE OPEN!!! I'm so glad that they are back. Choose from Japanese, Vietnamese, or Indian rice or salad bowls, plus a bit more. Veggie options for all three. Prices range from $11-$16.

This was my first visit to Bamboo Asia in Oakland. When I started working out here a few years ago, it had just shut down due to the pandemic. Unfortunately, it took this long to reopen. And there are three different types of cuisines. You can get here-Indian, Vietnamese, and Japanese. The line was long at the Indian counter, so I just chose something different. The menus amongst the three different cuisines are somewhat similar, but yet just slightly little bit different. I wanted a salad, so I decided on the Warrior Salad from the Japanese counter. Service was really quick, and the person working at that counter was happy to help people. Always smiling and and chatting it up with the customers. My salad was made very quickly, and I was out the door. When I walked out of Bamboo Asia, the salad didn't look too big. However, when I got back to the office and opened it up, I realized it was a very large salad. It was stuffed top to bottom with food. The flavors were very good and the food was very fresh. I would certainly come back here again. Price wise, it is equivalent to most other places at City Center.
